Artist-in-residency program begins Mexico-Rwanda

This July our first participants in the ICGalleries artist-in-residency project Mexico-Rwanda will begin. The first programs will take place in the atélier of renowned Mexican artist Esteban Urbieta in Oaxaca. We will also be co-sponsoring Mexico's first exhibition of exclusively Rwandan art, together with the Artists' Charity "Píntate de Valores" from the 1st of August to the 1st of October.

Successful first collectors' and dealers' visit to Kigali

From the 23rd to the 26th of April IC Galleries organized the first Collectors' and Dealers' art hunting safari to Kigali, Rwanda. We first came across the "trovata" of Kigali in an August 2nd 2015 article in the Frankfurter Allgemeine, referencing an earlier article in the New York Times. THERE IS A LOT OF GOOD STUFF GOING ON THERE! It makes us think of what Oaxaca must have been like 50 years ago, or Paris 120 years ago. A definite must for anyone on the cutting edge of new art Mecca hunting...  We'll be putting our finds up on the page soon. For the moment, get ready for the 2017 art safari...

Thanks for making our first Mexican auction a big success...

We want to thank everyone who was involved in making our very first auction in Mexico a huge success. On Friday 11th March we held an auction of Oaxacan art in the Pacific coastal city of Mazatlan. We started modestly, offering a selection of 23 lots painted by young Oaxacan artists with an already established reputation. We sold 22 of the 23, with a gross hammer price of 691,000 Mexican pesos. Thanks everybody!

We particularly wish to thank our charity partners in Mazatlan, the Mazatlan Orphanage. Also many thanks to Javier Lopez Morton from Mexico's most prestigious auction house "Morton", who donated his services. Thanks to Madero wineries, Zauco mezcal producers, and the following galleries: Alili & Hildebrando (Oaxaca), Lourdes Sosa (Mexico City), Jesús Villafán (Oaxaca). Without you it would have been impossible.

Thanks to Rodolfo Ortega and Lourdes Begné and innumerable friends. Hope to see you again soon!

Headed to Rwanda

Members of the IC Galleries team are headed to Kigali, Rwanda at the end of April for an art hunting safari. If you are interested in being part of the expedition, please let us know. Kigali is currently a Mecca of artistic production.

Update on work of Alberto ARAGON REYES

5 August 2015 Hello everyone. We are revamping our page, please bear with us! We hope to be up and running soon. In the meanwhile please check out the two new installations being prepared by Alberto Aragón Reyes in Oaxaca: "Migrants" and "Fisherman." Please give us your ideas if you know of any seaside US venues interested in the installation Fisherman, for which there is ample funding (they basically just need a willing City Council).
